Files on disk
Everything Splitkick knows is a file on your disk. There is no database, no account and no telemetry. Back it up, read it, move it.
App data folder
The app data folder is under ~/Library/Application Support/ on macOS, named after the app's bundle identifier. Until the rename from Jean is complete, Splitkick uses the same folder as Jean: ~/Library/Application Support/com.jean.desktop/.
| Path | Content |
|---|---|
projects.json | All projects, folders and worktrees, with their labels and settings |
sessions/index/<worktree id>.json | The list of sessions in a worktree |
sessions/data/<session id>/ | One folder per session: metadata.json plus the conversation and run history |
pasted-images/, pasted-texts/ | Attachments you pasted into a session |
session-context/, combined-contexts/ | Saved contexts |
Writes are atomic (temporary file, then rename), so a crash never leaves a half-written file.
Worktrees
Worktrees are git worktrees under ~/jean/<project name>/ by default. Each project can use a different base folder (project settings). The project's own checkout is never moved.
Agent data
Each agent CLI keeps its own login and history in its own place (for example ~/.claude, ~/.codex). Splitkick reads what it needs from there and does not copy it.
Retention
Splitkick keeps sessions and their history until you archive or delete them. There is an archive setting for old sessions; its default keeps everything.
